Judas Iscariot/Distant In Solitary Light/Moribund Records/1999 CD Review

Judas Iscariot where a 1 man band from Chicago, Illinois that played a very raw, grim and epic form of black metal and this is a review of their classic 1999 album "Distant In A Solitary Light" which was released by Moribund Records.

Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a good amount of blast beats, while the bass playing has a very dark tone that is kind off mixed down low in the mix and seems to follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars, as for the synths they are only utilized briefly and bring a dark atmospheric edge to the music.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast raw black metal riffs with some melodies being used at times, while the lead guitars when they are utilized they are mostly primal sounding black metal guitar leads.

Vocals are all grim sounding black metal vocals with some spoken word passages, while the lyrics cover Satanism, Nihilism, Anti-Christianity, Nietzsche philosophy and the poetry of William Blake, as for the production it is very dark, raw and primal sounding.

In my opinion this was a great album from Judas Iscariot and if you are a fan of this band, you probably already own this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Wind Stands Silent" "To The Black Tower Of Victory" and "In The Bliss Of The Eternal Valleys Of Hate". RECOMMENDED BUY.
