Corvus Corax/The Atavistic Trade/Dark Symphonies/2000 CD Review

Corvus Corax where a band from Seattle, Washington that played a very dark, melodic and atmospheric form of pagan/occult black metal and this is a review of their 2000 album "The Atavistic Triad" which was released by Dark Symphonies.

Drum programming ranges from slow, mid paced to fast beats with some tribal sounding percussion being thrown in at times, while the keyboards, sampling and sequencing bring a very dark, epic, atmospheric and orchestra sounding feel to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very dark and deep tone that is very easy to hear at times.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very dark and melodic sounding mixed in with some influences from doom metal, and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording, as for the acoustic guitars they use finger picking and full chords to enhance the darkness of the music.

Vocals are mostly high pitched and grim sounding black metal screams mixed in with some spoken word parts, while the lyrics cover Occultism, Caballa, and The Dark Side Of Nature, as for the production it has a very dark, powerful, heavy and professional sound to it.

In my opinion  Corvus Corax where a great sounding atmospheric, occult dark/black metal band and if you are a fan of this style, you should check this band out. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Son Of The Earth" and "Mystagiogue". RECOMMENDED BUY.
