Blackend Horizon/III (...Zwischenspiel)/2012 EP Review

This  is  another  review  of  a  recording  from  Blackend  Horizon  which  continues  their  atmospheric,  raw  and  primitive  crust  influenced  black  metal  sound  with  the  ep  being  self  released  in  2012  and  called  III (..Zwischenspiel)".

Drum  programming  ranges  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  beats  that  give  the  music a  minimilist  feeling,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  their  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  atmospheric  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  raw  and  primitive  sounding  with  some  crust  and  shoegaze  elements  being  thrown  in  the  riffing  at  times  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on t his  recording,  as  for  the  acoustic  guitars  they  use  finger  picking  and  full  chords  to  enhance  the  atmosphere  of  the  music.

Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  with  some  spoken  word  parts,  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  dark  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it  with t he  last  song  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Blackend  Horizon  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  crust  influenced  primitive  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "II".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
